Terms of Use
Last updated: May 18, 2026 · Effective: May 18, 2026
The short version. Lexino is free to play. Don't cheat the leaderboards, don't try to break the app, and don't redistribute our content. We provide the game as-is and can't promise a perfect bug-free experience, but we'll do our best.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, installing, or playing Lexino (the "app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, the simplest remedy is to not install the app — or to delete it.
These terms also apply alongside the standard Apple App Store Licensed Application End User License Agreement for iOS users and the Google Play Terms of Service for Android users. Where those store terms address something we don't, those terms apply.
2. Your license to use Lexino
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and play Lexino on devices you own or control, for non-commercial entertainment. This license lasts as long as you comply with these terms.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer, or extract source code from the app, except where applicable law permits it.
- Rent, lease, sublicense, or resell access to the app.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other notices in the app.
3. Fair play
Lexino is a single-player word game, but it has leaderboards and achievements via Game Center and Google Play Games. To keep those meaningful:
- Don't use bots, scripts, modded clients, memory editors, or any tool that gives you scores, hints, or achievements you didn't earn.
- Don't exploit bugs to gain progression and then refuse to report them. If you find a duplication or progression exploit, tell us via the contact form — we'd genuinely rather know.
- Don't try to disrupt the service for other players (DoS, spammy requests, etc.).
We reserve the right to remove invalid scores from leaderboards. For severe or repeated abuse, the relevant platform (Apple / Google) may restrict your participation in their services.
4. Our content & your feedback
The Lexino name, wordmark, chapter art, level designs, sound design, and code are owned by us or our licensors. Word definitions and the dictionary used for validation are sourced under permissive licenses where applicable.
Screenshots of gameplay are fine — share them anywhere, including social media. If you produce a video, stream, or article about Lexino, you may use the screenshots without asking.
If you send us feedback, ideas, or bug reports, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use those suggestions to improve the app, without any obligation to compensate or credit you.
5. Ads, hints & in-app economy
Lexino v1 does not charge money. The only "currency" is hints, which:
- You receive 3 of when you start, and refill over time at no cost.
- Can be topped up by choosing to watch a rewarded video ad ("Watch ad for 3 hints").
Hints have no real-world monetary value. They cannot be transferred between devices, sold, or refunded. If your save data is lost (device reset, app uninstall, etc.) your hint balance resets too.
If we introduce paid items in a future version, those purchases will be governed by the App Store's or Play Store's purchase terms, and we'll update these terms accordingly.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
Lexino is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every possible threat, or compatible with every device.
Some jurisdictions don't allow exclusion of certain warranties. In those places, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted by law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost progress, lost hints, lost time, or hurt feelings about a tough crossword clue — arising out of or related to your use of Lexino.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months (in v1, that's zero), or (b) USD $20.
8. Termination
You may stop using Lexino at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms — for example, by attempting to cheat at scale or by reverse-engineering the app.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the app meaningfully changes (new features, new economy, new third-party services). The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Lexino's publisher is established, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence still apply where they grant you stronger rights.
